Early versions of SNF had to load the rulebase file for each message. We introduced cellular peer server technology so that when more than one instance of SNF is active on a system, a few of them will elect to be in a server mode so that the remaining instances can act as clients. Only the server instances need to load the rulebase so the overall system performance is improved.
For the ultimate in high-speed message processing we now have an enhanced persistent server mode where you can launch an instance on your system to act as a "persistent server". When you do this, then all of the other instances will act as clients automatically and the rulebase will remain resident in the persistent server instance. We have also introduced some special timing and coordination features with this mode so that the client instances are better coordinated with the persistent server. This allows for higher throughput on busy systems and is highly recommended.
The sections below will give you more detailed information about running Message Sniffer in the Persistent operating mode.
