The sync section controls how SNF synchronizes with the other SNF nodes in the network through our SYNC servers.

The secs='30' attribute sets the default SYNC interval to 30 seconds. Once a relationsip is established, our SYNC servers will adjust the SYNC interval dynamically. Normally a SYNC session is scheduled to happen about once per minute. Normally there is no need to adjust this setting.

The host='sync.messagesniffer.net' attribute establishes the host name for the SYNC server(s). Normally there is no need to change this setting. However, an OEM that wishes to re-brand SNF might adjust this setting and coordinate with us to establish appropriate DNS records mapping through a domain of their choice.

The port='25' attribute tells SNF to connect to our SYNC servers on port 25. Normally we expect a mail server (where SNF would reside) to have no trouble making an outbound connection to port 25. However, in cases where that is not possible/desirable for some reason the alternate port 80 is also available. Although the SYNC connection is made to either port 25 (SMTP) or 80 (HTTP) the protocol used is proprietary. Other software attempting to connect to our SYNC servers will be automatically rejected and the IP (usually) banned.
